Sudbury MMA Training

What is MMA or Mixed Martial Arts?

MMA is first and foremost a combative sport like boxing, wrestling, judo and kickboxing with a distinct set of rules. The Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts govern most sanctioned MMA competitions which keep the Athletes safe during the competitions.

MMA in not a style of Martial Arts, it is the combination of different styles of Martial Arts, much like Bruce Lee did in the 1970 with his style of Jeet Kune Do (Wing Chun, Philippino Arts, Tang Soo Do and whatever he could get his hands on), many martial artists are blending different arts in order to compete and succeed in MMA.

Team Shredder's approach to MMA

The focus of our MMA training is not a particular style or system of Martial Art but rather on an individual basis.

Not everyone has the same skill set not the same passion or interest for a particular martial art.

Some athletes enjoy and excel at the ground game (Sambo, Wrestling, BJJ etc) others find their passion in the striking arts (Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Karate etc) then you have those who are comfortable on the ground and standing.

It is our goal at Team Shredder to enhance the
athlete’s current skills and strengths, improve
weaker area and develop new skills

Our Athletics Development Program focuses on the physical aspects and psychological preparation for fighting and also teaches our athletes the importance of proper nutrition.
